Festival dei Popoli 2008 - International Documentary Festival
The 49th edition of Festival dei Popoli - Festival Internazionale del Film Documentario will take place in Florence from November 14 to 21, 2008 - an event now included in the European Coordination of Cinema Festivals.
The Festival dei Popoli offers a broad panorama of documentaries, showing us the varied facets and its always renewed capacity to tell the story of reality, offering images of people and countries, portraits of men and women, stories coming from around the world.
The Festival encourages the reflection on the most relevant contemporary topics, giving the audience the opportunity to interact with documentary-makers, experts in the work and personality of the world of performance.
In its long history, the Festival has seen on its own screens the best documentary production at an international level and has made known to its audience the most noted authors of the sector (Jean Rouch, Ken Loach, Vittorio de Seta, Fred Wiseman, Richard Leacock, Gianfranco Mingozzi, Lindsay Anderson, Abbas Kiarostami, Nagisa Oshima, Ian Dunlop, Aleksandr Sokurov, Artavazd Pelechian, Jørgen Leth and many others).
In addition to screenings, within and outside of the competition, the Festival offers numerous conferences and round tables that allow the audience to meet illustrious members of various branches of social sciences: from anthropology to sociology, to urban planning, to the science of communication.
